A comet's tail is not what it looks like. It isn't debris dragged behind by motion, and it doesn't point backward along the path of travel — it points away from the sun, always, shaped by solar wind and radiation pressure regardless of which direction the comet is actually moving. A comet can be traveling one way and trailing light another.

That reversal is the interesting part: what reads as something left behind is really something responding, in real time, to a force pulling from ahead, not from the direction it came from.

This ring holds onto that logic. The fine, dark inclusions running through the stone don't sit still inside it — they pull in one continuous diagonal, like something caught mid-motion and frozen there. And the small stones set along the band don't frame the center evenly; they trail off to one side, following the same direction as the streaks inside the gem, the way a tail follows a source without ever touching it.

A comet moves in a long, looping orbit, carried out across the sky and pulled back again over years, sometimes decades — never fixed in one place. This ring moves the same way, following wherever your hand takes it next.
